Raila urges Uhuru to crack whip on Jubilee rebels and reshuffle cabinet

Date:

ODM leader Raila Odinga has urged the President to crack the whip or Jubilee rebels and also reshuffle cabinet.

Speaking during an interview with a news station, Raila Odinga said that the Jubilee rebels were disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Prime Minister also noted that a section of politicians was working tirelessly to disrupt the government’s efforts to curb corruption.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta revealed that the government loses approximately Kshs. 2 billion daily to corrupt proceedings.

Raila Odinga also blamed Deputy President William Ruto for the shortcomings with the government. He noted that Ruto was opposing Uhuru instead of working alongside him.

“Corruption is a problem that the Jubilee party is familiar with. The government is also divided, and some members rant when investigating agencies arrest corruption suspects,” Raila said.

“We, the ODM party, are doing our part as the opposition. All of us keep Jubilee in check. I personally advise Uhuru on matters I consider pertinent,” he added.

Raila also said that he was promoting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) with an aim to bring a much-needed change in the country. He reiterated that he was not using it to ascend to the presidency in 2022.

On 24th January, Deputy President William Ruto faulted Raila Odinga for addressing certain issues in political rallies. He claimed that by doing so, Raila was humiliating the President.

You claim Uhuru is your brother, why are you embarrassing him in public saying the government has not done this or that?” Ruto questioned.
