Detectives investigating the mysterious disappearance of the four men who had lunch together at a popular Kitengela club have found a new lead.
The detectives are reportedly trying to figure out the identities of two people(a couple) who could reveal details about the last moments of the four friends.
There are other reports that detectives linked a rogue police officer to the disappearance and murder of the four friends. The officer allegedly aided the four friends in criminal activities. Sources investigating the case claim that the friends were part of a bigger gang.
Benjamin Imbayi and Brian Oduor alias Champe, two of the friends, have pending cases before Kibera and Mavoko law courts. Police officers believe that the two are masterminds of the criminal gang. They have, on numerous occasions, had run-ins with the law.
The four friends, Benjamin Imbayi, Elijah Obuong, Jack Ochieng, and Brian Oduor, mysteriously disappeared after meeting for lunch at a Kitengela club. So far, their families have identified two of their bodies.
The first body they identified was that of Elijah Obuong. It was discovered near Mukungai River along the Murang’a-Iyego-Kangema road. Benjamin Imbayi’s family found his body at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika.
A few days ago, officers claimed that they had also found Ochieng’s body. However, his family disowned it and noted that the body was not Ochieng’s. According to them, the dead body did not have body marks that Ochieng has.
Hillary Mutyamba, the Inspector-General of Police, recently asked the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to form a team to investigate the deaths.
“The special team will report in a month. I’ve directed the DCI homicide team to investigate this matter and get to the bottom of it. The team has already begun its work,” the police boss said.
