Ruto’s team clarifies that apology letter to Uhuru is fake

An apology letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta allegedly written by Deputy President William Ruto has circulated on social media. The Deputy President’s team has denounced the letter, noting that it is fake.

The letter, which has no date, is an apology letter to Uhuru. In the letter, Ruto allegedly confesses that he is responsible for the Jubilee government’s failures.

Additionally, the letter states that Ruto would take responsibility for not heeding Uhuru’s directive of not engaging in politics. Instead, he should have focused on the government’s development agenda.

A representative from the Deputy President’s office dismissed the said letter, saying that it was doctored. Additionally, he said that the country needs to focus on more issue-based politics.

This letter comes when there is tension between the Deputy President’s team and the President’s team. Most of the Deputy President’s supporters have opted to shift to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Uhuru’s faction has, on numerous occasions, accused Ruto of sabotaging Jubilee’s agenda. They noted that it is wrong for the Deputy President to associate with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. UDA has fielded several candidates against Jubilee candidates in the recent by-elections.

President Uhuru Kenyatta recently dared the Deputy President and his allies to resign since they always criticize the government.

“It’s either we work together, or we don’t. If they feel that the government is favorable to them, then they should work with us. If they disassociate themselves, then they should resign,” Uhuru Kenyatta said at the time.
