A woman in Siaya is desperate to get her daughter to join form one and is willing to do anything. This includes selling blood, hers and her daughter’s.
Rose Akinyi Odhiambo and her daughter went to Siaya County Referal Hospital in a bid to sell their blood.
They hoped to donate blood in a bid to raise school fees money. However, no offer was forthcoming. The referral hospital claimed it is not possible to donate blood at a price.
This incident comes during the blood donation month.
The family left the hospital stranded with not even a single cent. They managed to get a well-wisher who promised to pay her term one fee.
Even after the promise, they still have trouble finding money for her personal effects.
Agnes Akoth, the daughter, scored 380 marks in KCPE. Akoth sat for her KCPE in Liganwa primary school in Alego. She was set to join Ng’iya Girls’ High School. However, Agnes and her mother do not have enough money for her fee. She requires Ksh.28,000 to form one admission.
Rose admitted to seeking help from county offices. She, however, did not receive any financial assistance.
Akoth fears that her daughter’s dreams may be shattered with the lack of school fees. The family is requesting for well-wishers to support the bright student in her quest for education.
