Safaricom announces issues with M-Pesa

Date:

Safaricom has declared that the giant telecommunication company is experiencing challenges with its M-Pesa services.

Customers who use M-Pesa through the My Safaricom app, Mshwari, and KCB have no option but to wait until the services are back.

Meanwhile, the telecommunications giant advised their users to access their M-Pesa services through their Sim Toolkit until they resolve the issue. The Sim Toolkit option is available for everyone as every phone comes with this feature.

According to Safaricom, they are working to restore all the services that are currently down.

“We are working to restore all services as soon as possible. As an alternative to the app, customers can continue accessing M-Pesa services through the Sim Toolkit on your phone menu,” Safaricom announced on Thursday the 7th of April 2020.

The telecommunications giant further apologized to its customers for any inconvenience caused.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience,” Safaricom said.

M-Pesa services are arguably the backbone of the PLC pulling many subscribers by just this one feature. The telecommunication giant company usually releases notices warning customers. They inform them of upcoming maintenance services that disrupt some of its products and services.

M-Pesa was developed by the public limited company to facilitate mobile money transfer regardless of the network one is using. It also has M-Shwari, which offers saving services to its customers. It provides saving packages, including lock savings accounts.

M-Shwari utilizes a customer’s M-PESA track record to analyze their creditworthiness. This information is also in combination with saving trends on the platform. Safaricom also came up with Fuliza. This is a type of loan where if the customer does not have enough money in their M-Pesa accounts, they can still send the money. Safaricom lends additional cash as a Fuliza loan.
