Senators have blasted the Council of Governors chairman Governor Wycliff Oparanya following his statement, where he called on the shutdown of counties.
The angered Senators called Oparanya a traitor and a liar of is leading a ‘club of boys” hell-bent on attacking a House that protects devolution.
According to the lawmakers, the CoG under the Kakamega Governor went to bed with Executive, betraying Senators who have been fighting for higher share to the devolved units.
Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr warned his Governor Kivutha Kibwana against closing Makueni Level 4 Hospital, saying they will impeach him.
Mutula said that it is an impeachable offense any Governor to take instructions from a fellow governor and shut down hospitals.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula condemned the move saying it was a clear abuse of Authority sine the Council of Governors is not the employer of any county employees.
Wetangula called on fellow senators to take great exception of “the reckless misadventure” by Oparanya and remind him that he should bring his Governors to order in respect of accountability.
On his part, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua said Oparanya is not new to careless statements.
Senator Wambua claimed that Oparanya went to bed with the Executive and sold the counties at Sh316.5 billion.
The Senator also accused him of calling on the Senate to entrench the marginalization of the Wajir, Mandera, among other counties after going to bed with the Executive.
Also, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina trashed the CoG describing it as a club of boys that has no powers.
He challenged the Council to sit and discuss and resolve the issues of boundaries if they cared so much about the people as they pretend to.
The CoG chair had earlier today announced that from tomorrow(Thursday), all county services across the country would be suspended after the Senators failed to pass the Revenue-sharing Formula.
Oparanya said that county hospitals would not permit any new inpatient admissions.
