President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Samoei Ruto might be mending their relationship as sources reveal the two had a secret meeting. The meeting was on Saturday the 30th of May 2020 at State House.
This meeting comes at a time when Jubilee is facing a lot of negativity after an ongoing purge. However, details from the conference are scanty.
Some legislators thought DP Ruto would not attend the Madaraka day celebrations at State House, seeing he did not participate in Labour Day. However, the Dp showed up next to his president Uhuru Kenyatta. Both leaders gave their speeches at the invite-only event.
More secrecy concerning the meeting.
State House spokesperson Kanze Dena refused to comment on the details of the meeting. Further, Emmanue Tallam, DP Ruto’s spokesperson also declined to comment on the matter. According to Tallam, the meeting did not take place.
“I am not aware of the meeting. If there was one, it must be one of those regular ones between the president and his deputy,” Tallam said.
However, Kaseret MP Oscar Sudi confirmed that Uhuru and Ruto had a meeting. Sudi claimed that although he knows the two met, he does not know what they discussed.
“We know that there are those who do not want to hear that the two met; they rejoice in the perceived sour relationship. The two met, they have a mandate to deliver, and they must work together. I am not, however privy to what they discussed,” Sudi commented.
This news comes after President Uhuru revealed that despite the one month purge on Ruto allies, he is not against anybody. He further insisted that he is also not for anybody. According to him, he is cleaning up leaders and replacing them with those who are ready to put effort into achieving his goals.
