A section of President Uhuru Kenyatta allies has gone in hard on Baringo Senator Gideon Moi accusing him of influencing appointments in lucrative posts by the Head of State in the Rift Valley region.
Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Members of Parliament Joshua Kuttuny (Cheranganyi), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) and Johanna Ngen’o (Emurrua Dikirr) faulted the KANU Party leader of failing to use his closeness with Uhuru Kenyatta to their advantage given he is eyeing the county’s top job.
Cheranganyi MP Kuttuny called out Gideon Moi for being linked with the recent sacking of Deputy President William Ruto’s allies from powerful positions in the government.
He added that Gideon Moi should have used his closeness with Uhuru Kenyatta to their advantage.
“At the end of the day, we must protect our interests. I will not allow our own son to be pushed to the wall by one of ours who should be at the front line protecting him. Gideon should have used his closeness with Uhuru to find a truce in Jubilee instead of escalating their differences,” the Cheranganyi MP pointed out.
Kuttuny in a previous interview stated that their people should not be punished for their association with William Ruto arguing that they were being badly influenced by him.
He added that since the DP was “not in the government anymore” it would only be fair for Gideon to work without victimization.
“Our people in government should not be punished for their association with the DP. Our professionals were being badly influenced by DP, but since he was edged out of the government, it would only be fair for Gideon to work with the professionals without victimization,” he said.
However, KANU Secretary-General Nick Salat clapped back at the MP stating that he was trying to cause divisions and misunderstandings where there were none.
He went on to state that if they ever counted hi as one of them, he had not been anywhere close to them and never played a role in the success of KANU. He added that Kuttuny’s bitterness did not concern them.
