Uhuru’s cousin criticizes Kikuyu elders meeting with Raila

Retired Captain Kung’u Muigai, Kikuyu National Council of Elders patron who also happens to be Uhuru’s cousin, has denounced Raila’s meeting with Kikuyu elders at his father’s home in Bondo last weekend.

Kung’u was speaking during a requiem mass for Kenol violence victims Christopher Kariuki and Peter Mbothi.

According to him, Uhuru was not aware of the visit to Bondo. Kung’u further urged leaders to avoid divisive and tribalistic politics that will split the country.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta did not send anyone to Bondo and was not aware of the visit. It was the work of Peter Kenneth and David Murathe. The National Council of Elders never sent them,” the retired captain stated.

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo also criticized the visit claiming Murathe and Peter Kenneth wanted to divide the Mt. Kenya region.

“They want to auction the community for self-gain ahead of the 2022 general election,” Kabogo stated.

Further adding,

“Bad politics is to blame for the death of these two young people.”

During the Bondo meeting, Odinga and the elders came up with resolutions that they felt would improve the nation. Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o who was also present read out some of their solutions.

“We the elders of the Luo and Kikuyu communities, coming together at the home of our patriarch Jaramogi Oginga Odinga have expressed our deep concerns for the problems facing our nation,” Nyong’ said.

“We deeply appreciate the initiative taken by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to unite our nation through the handshake under the BBI, and we eagerly await the launch of the proposals very soon.”

Governor Nyong’o also urged Kenyans to embrace the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“We call upon our people to fully support the handshake by taking its spirit to the grassroots among the Kenyan people.”

According to reports, the second part of the meeting will be on 30th October when Nyanza elders will visit Nyeri.
