Watch Short Video of Uhuru Imitating Raila’s Speech

  • During the highly-charged 2017 campaigns in Nakuru County, President Uhuru Kenyatta was captured on camera imitating ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In the 48-second video, the president imitated Odinga’s voice in a mock attempt at his then-fiercest rival accusing him of replicating a Jubilee Party campaign promise.

Ati mtu ya kitendawili amesema ‘mkinichagua nitawaletea elimu ya bure,’ Kenyatta mocked Odinga as he attempted to imitate his voice.

A lot, however, has changed in just two years with both the Head of State and Raila mending their relationship with the historic handshake on March 9, 2018.

The two leaders put their differences apart and shook hands to symbolise unity and readiness to work together.

The president’s commitment to the handshake was hinted during the just concluded Kibra by-election when claims surfaced that he would have preferred for Jubilee not to field a candidate in Odinga’s stronghold.

Gender CAS, Rachel Shebesh, on Friday, September 27, alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta was coerced to endorse the McDonald Mariga at State House on September 18.

Shebesh added that Ruto and his allies gained access to State House through the back door.

“On that day when the president endorsed Mariga for Kibra race, I was in State House. I know how they mounted pressure on the president, and how they gained entry to State House. They used the backdoor,” she claimed.

On Friday, November 8, in a rare show of unity, Jubilee politicians congratulated the ODM Kibra MP-elect Bernard ‘Imran’ Okoth.

“Congratulations to Kibra MP Elect Bernard Otieno Okoth Imran and Kibra people for voting in a true son of Kibra. Thank you for honouring the handshake. Walikucheka lakini (They laughed at you but…) things are different on the ground [sic]. Long live the handshake, forward onward to BBI,” an excited Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru stated.

“I personally believe Imran Okoth is a good person and am sure he will deliver to people of Kibra. To our political nemesis, we are not done with you yet, we just postponed our victory. We will live to fight another day,” Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi stated.
