Recently, Musalia Mudavadi, the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, linked a leader of the Nasa coalition to the ouster of Moses Wetangula.
Mudavadi claimed that the ouster is meant to intimidate him and Mr. Wetangula. He also said that Francis Atwoli was trying to scare them. He alleged that Atwoli had something to do with the coup.
On Sunday, Musalia Mudavadi issued a statement. In the statement, he accused a ‘leader of the Nasa party’ of orchestrating Wetangula’s ouster.
“I am aware that this mischief has been in the making for some time now. It aims to invade and destabilize all independent-minded political parties.” Mudavadi said.
“The mischief has been escalated at several meetings led by the leader of a Nasa member party, whose objective is to destroy and dominate everyone politically,” he added.
Mudavadi claimed that Francis Atwoli aided the entire plan.
“This ugly ploy reminds us of the Watergate scandal of June 197. The leader of a political party in the United States invaded another party in the manner that we are now witnessing in Kenya. It is both against the political parties Act (2011) and a big shame,” he said.
On Sunday, ODM also issued a statement. Edwin Sifuna, the ODM secretary-general, said that Mudavadi’s politics is an act of cowardice. He noted that Mudavadi ought to mention the party leader he was referring to.
“It is in the public domain that Mudavadi has been holding meetings with politicians of different shades in the past few weeks,” Sifuna said
We have neither raised any issue about it nor begrudged him the right to chart his political future. It is imperative in the same vein that he must let Ford-Kenya members and officials chart their future, too,” he added.
Sifuna also said that Mudavadi should not lecture anyone on political choices. He said that Mudavadi has made terrible political choices in the past.
