Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha compared himself to an eagle while he boasted of his success over the years.
The no-nonsense CS was speaking during a graduation event at the United States International University (USIU) on Friday, November 20 where he asked the graduates to follow his steps.
While telling them how an eagle flies higher than the rest of the birds, he claimed that he was also at the top and that is why even when people criticize him, he always stays up and looks at them.
“You know an eagle is a bird that flies above the others and I am proud to say that I am one of them. So when people are making noise down there, I stay up and just look at them,” Magoha stated.
Magoha advised them not to only focus on acquiring a lot of certificates but to sharpen their skills as well.
He explained that this is because employers nowadays want people who have useful skills and not just certificates only.
We went on to challenge them to create jobs rather than seek employment adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta was keen on adding more institutions that would focus on TVETs.
“I want to say that on behalf of the government, we are happy to see the youth graduating. We are persuading parents to take children to school as we are expanding TVETs,” he stated.
Magoha recently found himself in hot soup after a video emerged where he was caught insulting Uasin Gishu Director of Communication Gitonga Mbaka.
It was reported that during his tour in the region, the CS went to inspect Langa’s Primary School when he found it in a mess.
Some of the county’s tried to explain to him that there was construction going on but the CS was having none of it.
A section of education officials asked him to apologize but Magoha stood his ground and stated that he was not going to offer any apology. Mbaka later spoke out and said that he had forgiven the CS.
