It is a win for Wetangula as the Political Parties Registrar declared him the Ford Kenya leader.
Anne Nderitu, the Political Parties Registrar, declared him the leader on 4th June. She acknowledged that, legally, Wetangula is still the official party leader.
“In line with Articles 37 and 50 of the Ford-Kenya Party constitution, the NEC & PG meeting on May 31, 2020, did not meet the applicable quorum to hear and determine disciplinary matters,” the political parties registrar said.
Consequently, Anne Nderitu quashed his ouster. She went ahead to say that the meeting that the party members held to eject Wetangula from his seat was illegal.
The Bungoma senator had taken disciplinary action against errant members of the Ford-Kenya party.
Moses Wetangula suspended Eseli Simiyu. Eseli was the Ford Kenya Secretary-General. Wetangula replaced him with Chris Wamalwa. He also replaced Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi with MP Vincent Mogaka.
Ms. Nderitu said that the changes Wetangula made were legal and will take effect.
Ford Kenya party members that support senator Moses Wetangula want him to punish everyone that supported his ouster. They want him to expel them from the party.
Additionally, the purge in the Ford Kenya party has moved to the Busia County Assembly. There is a battle for control of the Ford-Kenya party.
