Wiper party asks Kalonzo to return to Azimio

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been prevailed upon by party officials to reconsider his decision to vie for the presidency.

The resolution was reached during a delegates meeting at Stoni Athi in Machakos County on Monday.

The officials asked Kalonzo to exhaust all dispute resolution mechanisms within the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

“There is a dispute resolution mechanism under that alliance, so we are asking our party leader that we do consider the possibility of having further discussions on this coalition arrangement,” organizing secretary Robert Mbui said.

Kalonzo is said to be out of the country for a private trip to the United Kingdom.

Mbui said the reason the Wiper party decided to bolt out of Azimio and declare that Kalonzo would vie for the presidency was because there was initially no room for discussions.

He, however, said the meeting had resolved that the interests of the country outweigh that of the party even as Kalonzo on Monday presented signatures of supporters backing his presidential bid to the IEBC.

“Because we had already agreed to work under the Azimio One Kenya Alliance, it is time that we exhaust all the options that were available,” Mbui said.
