A woman has sued Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Auko for a child support, arguing that he had deserted his three-year-old baby they sired together.
According to court documents seen by the press, the woman, Beatrice Kikunga, lamented that she had cohabited with the Punguza Mizigo proponent since 2011, and the two sired a child in 2017 before separating in 2018.
According to Beatrice, their relationship with Aukot was steady until early 2018 when he neglected them
and refused to take responsibility for their baby despite knowing that it needed to be provided with basic needs.
The complainant demanded Aukot be ordered to pay over Sh100, 000 per month for a house help, rent, utilities, entertainment, and the child’s basic needs.
The magistrate ordered Aukot to conduct a DNA test for the baby on July 7 at Lancet laboratories and present them to court on July 24.
The magistrate ruled that the two parties will share the DNA costs, and the unsuccessful party shall refund back the successful party their contributions within seven days of receipts of results.
The politician was also sued for contempt of court after he refused to conduct a DNA test in February 2020 as ordered by the court.
The lady further claimed she was jobless and was struggling with bringing up the child, adding that she was kicked out of her rented house over rent arrears.
The party leader is married to Lorna Wanjiru Mathenge, and the two are blessed with two daughters Alakara Muthoni Aukot and Naro Njeri Aukot.
This case comes days after a similar case associated with Chief Justice David Maranga was thrown out by the Nairobi Children’s Court after the court found that the lady, Mary Kwamboka, who had accused the CJ of Child negligence had not properly filed the case for failing to pay the requisite fee of Sh655.
