Kirinyaga County Ward representatives have vowed to impeach their boss Anne Waiguru again days after she won her impeachment case.
The MCAs led by the County Assembly Majority Leader Kamau Murango while speaking to the media on Monday 29 June 2020, stressed out that Anne Waiguru had not paid for her mistakes therefore she had every reason to repeat them.
“To madam Waiguru, in the words of Fred Van Lente, if there are no consequences to your mistakes, you have no reason not to make them. We now understand your nonchalant attitude towards the rule of law,” the Majority Leader stated.
The Majority Leader went on to state that despite her not facing the consequences of her actions recently against people of Kirinyaga, her time to stop lying and stealing from Kenyans had come.
Murango noted that they had been denied their justice but vowed not to give up on the pursuit. He added that Anne Waiguru’s deep pockets and political connections will not save her in the next impeachment motion.
“We are aware that you are yet to face consequences of actions against the people of Kirinyaga. However, nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. You time to stop lying and stealing from people of Kenya has come madam. Justice delayed is justice denied in the meantime but we shall not give up. Neither your deep pockets nor your influence will desist our pursuit of justice for the people of Kirinyaga so help us God,” he concluded.
Anne Waiguru was impeached on 9 June after 23 out of the 33 Ward representatives voted to remove her out of office. The MCAs accused her of violation of the Constitution, abuse of office and gross misconduct.
However, on Friday, June 26, the 11-member Senate Committee formed to probe Anne Waiguru found her innocent stating that the accusations leveled against her were not substantiated.
Waiguru later stated that she had forgiven the forces behind her impeachment and was focused on making Kirinyaga County great.
