Aston Villa sign former Liverpool and Spain goalkeeper on loan

Aston Villa has signed Pepe Reina on loan from Ac Milan for the rest of the season. The 37-year-old has played for Napoli, Liverpool and Munich.

Reina  Pepe who is also a world cup winner, was at the stand as Aton Villa lost 6-1 to Manchester City on Sunday evening. Aston Villa needed to add more options to their goalkeeper as their top goalkeeper Healton was ruled out for the remainder of the season when he suffered a knee injury on the new year.

Reina made 394 appearances for Liverpool between 2005 and 2013 then he moved to Bayern Munich after a loan spell with Napoli. Villa’s boss speaking to the sports media said, “We’ve managed to secure a player in Pepe who has a wealth of premier league experience”. He also added that Pepe fits the criteria they are looking for not just because of his experience but also because of his leadership qualities.
