Paulo Fonseca’s departure is complete, the club formalized it on Tuesday. For a few weeks now, the Portuguese technician knew that he would not continue the adventure with AS Roma. The Roman leaders were busy finding his successor and allegedly targeted Maurizio Sarri. The former Juventus coach has been free for a year now and is said to be eager to return to coaching.
According to information from the Gazzetta Dello Sport, the 62-year-old Italian coach would be very close to a bench. He is due to meet AS Roma’s sporting director Tiago Pinto in the next few days. The latter was looking for an experience profile to take over the reins of the team. Maurizio Sarri likes the idea of working at the Louve club, which he sees as a club with great potential that just needs to be awakened, especially since he also wanted to take over a club. Everything seems lined up to see the former Chelsea manager in Serie A again next season.
