A month after the approval of the funding request by the General Assembly of Barça members, the Catalan club decided to hold a referendum among its members on the Camp Nou renovation project. The board of directors has “Decided to launch a binding consultation on the financing of Espai Barca (editor’s note: Camp Nou remodeling project estimated at 1.5 billion euros) on Sunday 19 December”, thus communicated, this Friday the Barça. Therefore, via an electronic vote, the members will have to answer yes or no to the following question.
“Do you ratify the decision of the Assembly of Investors to authorize the Board of Directors to carry out the necessary actions to obtain the financing of Espai Barça for an amount not exceeding 1.5 billion dollars?” In the event of a final agreement, work could begin in spring 2022 and end in 2025. Note that the Board of Directors plans to borrow nearly 900 million euros intended for the renovation of Camp Nou, but also to that of the Palau Blaugrana (up to 420 million euros) where the basketball team plays. Finally, 20 million euros will be used to modernize the Johan-Cruyff stadium where the reserve team trains.
