The Bavarian club has recorded the future arrival of Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui. First approached at Barça and Arsenal, the 24-year-old Atlas Lion finally chooses Bavaria for the next four seasons.
Despite a 32nd title in the Bundesliga won three days before the end of the season, Bayern Munich have not managed to be competitive in all their competitions, with elimination in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Villarreal and an exit from the German Cup through the back door due to a slap received on the lawn of Borussia Mönchengladbach. A single title, well celebrated by the Bavarians in front of their public at the expense of their rival, Borussia Dortmund (3-1), but the Munich club had not been spared by the press across the Rhine after the European debacle.
Transfer window level, the Bavarian management had their work cut out for them throughout this exercise. Indeed, the FCB board has managed to complete the contract extensions of several of its executives: the Frenchman Kingsley Coman (until 2027) as well as the Germans Leon Goretzka (2026), Joshua Kimmich (2025) and the latest in date, those of Raumdeuter Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer until 2024. Next to that, Michaël Cuisance left Munich for Venice last winter, followed by the planned departure this summer of Niklas Süle at the end of his contract at Borussia Dortmund. Nevertheless, the reigning German champion has registered his first summer signing.
A contract worth 8 million euros
Indeed, Bayern Munich has announced the future arrival of Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui, his signature being effective on July 1, at the end of his lease with Ajax Amsterdam, crowned champion of the Netherlands. “FC Bayern have signed Noussair Mazraoui. The 24-year-old leaves Ajax Amsterdam for Munich on a free transfer for the new season and has signed with the German champions until 2026”, can we read on the press release. A pure product of the Amsterdam formation, the 24-year-old defender has become in a few seasons one of the references for his position in the Eredivisie and notably distinguished himself on the continental scale during the epic ajacide in the Champions League 2018/2019, knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus in the finals. Also able to play in midfield, he will strengthen the right lane of Julian Nagelsmann, who should play Benjamin Pavard in central defense next season.
Previously advised by the late Mino Raiola, the Atlas Lion with 12 caps (2 goals), at odds with his coach Vahid Halilhodzic six months before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, was first approached at FC Barcelona or even at Arsenal before committing to Bavaria. According to information from Picture, the native of Leiderdorp will receive an annual salary of 8 million euros. He will therefore have played 137 matches under the colors of Ajax Amsterdam for 10 goals and 9 assists, winning two Dutch Championships (2019, 2021, 2022), two national cups (2019, 2021) and a Super Cup (2019 ).
