While the 2021 Copa America is due to start on Sunday night with a match between Brazil and Venezuela (11 p.m. French time), no one really knew where the competition was going to be played. Initially, the competition was to take place in Colombia and Argentina before CONMEBOL intervened and withdraws the organization from it because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Brazil then sent in its candidacy but the official response was still awaited. But the verdict is in.
As relayed by the local media Globoesporte, the Supreme Court of Brazil has rejected the last appeals for the cancellation of this Copa America 2021. The authorization has therefore been given and this 2021 edition will indeed take place in the country of Neymar and company. And this despite an equally complicated health situation there.
