New controversy in this decidedly turbulent Euro. UEFA today formalized the suspension of Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic (32) for the next meeting. Indeed, the European football body accuses the Shanghai SIPG striker of insulting a Macedonian player after scoring the 3-1 goal in the 89th minute of play against North Macedonia last Sunday.
Arnautovic will therefore be absent for Austria’s next meeting tomorrow against the Netherlands, winners of Ukraine 3 goals to 2 on Sunday. The former West Ham and Stoke City center forward will miss the clash between the first and second in Group C, kick off 9 p.m. this Thursday.
