For its comeback in Serie A after 19 years of absence, FC Venezia wanted to strike a blow by unveiling a sublime new home shirt for the 2021/2022 season. Designed by the customary Italian equipment supplier Kappa, this new jersey presents a luxurious style inspired by Venetian details and iconography.
Upon closer inspection, the base of this home shirt reveals a trompe-l’oeil printed Venetian wall texture, created from photographs of aged facades taken around the lagoon.
The textured black base is embellished with golden elements, inspired by the city’s churches, monuments and gilded palaces and the historical importance of gold in Venetian art and commerce, which dates back to the late Middle Ages and at the beginning of the Renaissance. The shirt features the golden stars of the iconic Saint Mark’s Basilica, arranged in a “V” shape. The golden writing “Venezia” placed at the top of the “V” prominently celebrates the city.
The orange and green of Venezia are united in a flag placed at the top of the chest, in the center, as a sign of homage to the supporters. The club colors are also present on the collar and sleeves. Design for the home kit – and the rest of the soon-to-be-released 21/22 collection, including three other match kits – was led by New York-based design agency Fly Nowhere in conjunction with Kappa.
The release of the Venezia home jersey coincides with the launch of the club’s new online store, shop.veneziafc.it, designed by renowned Munich studio Bureau Borsche. The 2021/2022 Venezia FC away shirt will be revealed on Friday, July 30.
