Before the last match of the 4th day of Ligue 1 between Olympique de Marseille and LOSC, the French championship continued at Stade de la Beaujoire since FC Nantes hosted AS Saint-Étienne. Defeated by AS Monaco last weekend, the Canaries had to recover but the task was complicated against the Greens on a cloud with three victories in three matches, the last of which against Olympique de Marseille on Thursday evening, at the Orange Velodrome. From the second minute of play, Claude Puel’s men drew since Aouchiche opened the scoring by taking a cross from Neyou Noupa in front of goal (0-1).
Nantes tried to react and thought to get a penalty for a foul by Kolodziejczak on Blas but Mr. Gautier did not budge. The Nantes goal finally arrived before the break but Kolo’s realization was refused for an offside on the action (44th). ASSE therefore led the score at half-time, and even took two goals ahead after the hour mark thanks to a magnificent strike from Mason (66th, 0-2). Behind, the Canaries managed to close the gap with a goal from Simon (71st, 1-2) and pushed to equalize. And Emond, just come into play, delivered his own (86th, 2-2). The two teams therefore parted back to back. FC Nantes went 14th in the standings, ASSE took back its 1st place.
