According to The Telegraph, Burnley and Leeds would like to sue Everton. Both clubs have written to the Premier League as they believe Everton have breached Financial Fair Play rules. Just saved from relegation to the Championship, the Toffees may therefore have to defend their financial record. Over the past three seasons, the Liverpool club has had a deficit of around 440 million euros, while the League only allows 125 million euros in losses over three years.
Despite this, Everton remain quite confident in this matter and believe that they have fully respected the rules of financial fair play. “We worked closely with the Premier League to ensure we were in compliance. We are confident that we have complied with the rules. External inspectors have told us what we can and cannot claim against the pandemic. If the clubs want to take legal action, that’s their decision.”explained the spokesperson for the Toffees, according to comments reported by Sky Sports.
