As reported by The Telegraph, Benjamin Mendy (27) disappeared from the site of the official Manchester City store following accusations of rape and sexual assault brought against the French left-back. If his profile is still available in the squad of the first team, the former Monegasque is suspended by the cityzen club until further notice. The English daily also tried to contact the club for further explanation, without response.
For now, Mendy remains in pre-trial detention and will be tried in January 2022 after being charged with rape. The 10-cap international appeared in Chester Crown Court last Friday and a preliminary hearing will take place on November 15, during which Mendy and his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, also arrested for rape, will make their pleas.
