After Kylian Mbappé’s extension, PSG is working to completely restructure the club’s sportsman. And the first maneuvers have already begun
PSG’s summer was already shaping up to be hectic. Despite the title of Champion of France, the Parisian season was not a great success, on the contrary. Between the disillusionment in the Champions League, the level of play displayed and the performance of certain players, the Parisian leaders had to get to work quickly. And it started with the very big blow: Kylian Mbappé. The Parisian star, at the end of his contract this summer, decided to extend his lease for three years when Real Madrid made eyes at him and were even close to welcoming him at one point. But if Mbappé made his decision public recently, he had a favorite for a month already.
The first victim of this extension was Leonardo. The Brazilian sports director, who did not get along particularly well with Mbappé, left the club just after the last day of Ligue 1. To replace him, the Mbappé clan and the Parisian management immediately thought of Luis Campos. A choice that goes back several months since his name had already emerged during exchanges between PSG and the Mbappé clan. The former DS from Monaco has a very good relationship with KM7. He was also courted by Real Madrid if Kylian Mbappé was to sign there. But while the entire direction of the sportsman was promised to him, another element arrived in the balance: Antero Henrique.
Towards an unofficial duo Campos – Henrique
The former sports director of PSG, who notably brought Mbappé back to Paris and which he considers his greatest accomplishment, has always kept very strong ties with Parisian decision-makers and senior officials in Qatar. According to our indiscretions, the PSG will set up an unofficial duo since Luis Campos, who has not yet officially signed his contract, will have full powers for all that is recruitment while Antero Henrique, who had been able to sell well during of his time at the club, will give a helping hand precisely for sales and to “clean up” the workforce.
More generally, Antero Henrique, who has been in Paris for the past few days, will mainly deal with managing the policy of the QSI group and the other clubs that the investment fund intends to buy in the near future. The former vice-president of FC Porto will manage his files from Doha while Luis Campos will therefore be dedicated to PSG and will therefore officiate from Paris. An unprecedented organization, therefore, which aims to completely restructure the Parisian project in order to obtain better results in the future. If Kylian Mbappé asked for changes, he seems to have been listened to.
