PSG would finally be on the way to definitively separating from Alphonse Areola

Date:

Loaned this season to the Hammers, the French goalkeeper should not return to Paris. The English club would have decided to exercise the purchase option.

History seemed to repeat itself. Pushed out by Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 when Keylor Navas landed in the French capital, the tricolor international (3 selections) had chained a loan to Real Madrid then to Fulham. Each time, the question of a permanent transfer did not arise.

On loan this season to West Ham, the French goalkeeper seemed to be reliving the same scenario. Lining for Lukas Fabianski in the Premier League, Areola was still able to play in the Europa League, which allowed him to experience a European semi-final (lost against Eintracht Frankfurt, future winner of the event).

€ 12 million soon in the coffers of PSG

A special club status which did not prevent him from retaining the confidence of Didier Deschamps. While an Alban Lafont (Nantes) pushes hard at the gate, the native of Paris was summoned yesterday to compete in the League of Nations. Good news that should be accompanied by a second fairly quickly.

Sky Sport Italia claims that West Ham has decided to exercise the option to buy €12m. Good news for PSG which, we remind you, has no less than 10 professional goalkeepers under contract. But if the London club’s desire to keep Areola is clear, it remains to be seen how the salary issue will be managed. Because Areola currently receives 8 M € per year thanks to his Parisian contract.
