If Marcelo (33) has been announced a few times to leave this summer, he should ultimately stay at Real Madrid. According to Marca, the Brazilian side would not have appreciated the rumors around his future in recent weeks and he would have asked Madrid leaders to clarify the situation. The latter have decided to keep him next season when he will reach the end of his contract in the summer of 2022.
The Spanish daily therefore ensures that the 2021/2022 exercise will be the last for Marcelo with Real Madrid and that he will continue to ensure the progress of Ferland Mendy next season. The Frenchman is expected to be the incumbent with a replacement Marcelo, while the former Fluminense player, who arrived in Madrid in 2006, has been on the decline for a few months already. The appeal from Fluminense supporters, who demanded his return for this summer, was therefore not effective.
