As part of this 38th day of Serie A, Inter won 2-0 on Atalanta’s lawn, securing their 2nd place in the standings. Juventus, already titled, ends its season with a home defeat against AS Roma (1-3).
For this 38th and final day of Serie A, four posters were on the program. Among them, two could be decisive. Atalanta (3rd, 78 pts) welcomed on its lawn a team of Inter, runner-up to Juventus (2nd, 79 pts). In case of victory, the Bergamots could snatch second place in this ranking. Conversely, the nerazzuri could only keep it by winning or via a draw in the event of a misstep by Lazio (3rd, 78 pts). But Antonio Conte’s players did not have time to think about all these eventualities. From the first minute of play, on a cross from Ashley Young, Danilo D’Ambrosio jumped higher than everyone else and scored the first goal of this match with a perfectly placed header. Ideally launched in this meeting, Inter doubled the bet a quarter of an hour later through Ashley Young, already decisive passer on the first goal. The English side sent a superb coiled shot that ended its race in the small right net of the opposing goalkeeper. After a much calmer second half and without too much action, the Interists won (2-0) and thus ended just one small point behind Juventus, champions of Italy.
Lazio she moved on the lawn of Napoli in a game at stake only for the Romans still in the race to finish in the top three of this Calcio. But things were not going as planned for Simone Inzaghi players. From the 9th minute of play, Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a strike from the edge of the area, leaving Strakosha motionless. Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile did not understand it that way and equalized nearly ten minutes later with a cool shot, the latter thus recording 36 goals in 37 Serie A appearances. locker room, Lorenzo Insigne calmly transformed a penalty following a foul by Marco Parolo and thus allowed his team to win (3-1) after this goal scored at the very end of Politano’s meeting. With this result, Lazio ends this championship in 4th place, qualifying for the next Champions League. Napoli will play in the Europa League.
Juventus ends on a bad note
In the other two matches of the evening, Juventus hosted AS Roma in a match certainly attractive but without stake. Already crowned Italian champion, Maurizo Sarri’s players opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Gonzalo Higuain (5th), before being joined in the score by Kalinic (23rd). Perotti gave the advantage to the Romans just before the penalty break (44th), before seeing double and registering the third goal of his team with a nice low shot. Roma, already qualified for the next Europa League, ended their season in 5th place. Juventus certainly finished first but with only one point ahead of Inter.
AC Milan received Cagliari in the other game of the night and won without any difficulty. Despite a missed penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Milanese scored three goals in this meeting. The first against his camp, finally resulted in a goal from Ibrahimovic on the hour mark (55th), the latter certainly annoyed to have missed his penalty. Castillejo worsened the mark and AC Milan thus won (3-0) and retained its 6th place in the standings, qualifying for the Europa League.
