Between winning a first Champions League with Manchester City or triumphing again in the World Cup final with Les Bleus, Benjamin Mendy made his choice.
Lift the Champions League with Manchester City or win a second World Cup with the French team? Hard to decide… but Benjamin Mendy still has a small preference.
“It would be the Champions League with City. It’s not that I don’t want another World Cup, I’d love to have both every year! But we’ve already had the World Cup with France. We haven’t had the Champions League with City yet. It’s a dream,” the 25-year-old left-back said in an interview with beIN Sports.
City ruled out of European cups for two years
The goal of the Emirati owners since taking power in 2008 has so far eluded the Skyblues year after year. But Pep Guardiola’s men have sent a strong message this season by winning on the pitch of Real Madrid (2-1) in the round of 16 first leg. The return leg was scheduled for March 17 at the Etihad Stadium, but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Pending the judgment of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Manchester City have also been excluded from the European Cups for the next two years because of a breach of the Financial Fair Play Regulation.
