Kenyan midfielder scores on debut for Atletico

Harambee Starlets Midfielder Vivian Corazon Aquino made her debut at Atletico Ouriense on Sunday in the sides’s 2-1 loss to Albergaria in a Portuguese Top flight league match staged at Estádio Municipal António Martins Pereira.

The Kenyan International made a move to the club late in January. She was handed her first appearance in the clash which was played in Albergaria-a-Velha. Though her side lost, she had a debut to remember as she scored Atletico’s opener which turned out to be a consolation.

Aquino, a CECAFA Women Championship winner with Harambee Starlets in 2019 rose to head in a corner kick for Atletico’s lone goal. The side would later concede two goals, one of those being a penalty to lose the match.

Atletico are not in a good form as the loss marked their seventh defeat of the season. In the last five, they have managed just one win. The win came as a 1-0 against Marítimo.  Since then they have suffered two straight losses.

The form leaves them eighth on the 1A Divisão Women Standings. Atletico have amassed 18 points in the last 15 matches following five wins and three draws. They have scored 27 goals and have conceded as many goals.

Aquino will be hoping to get more playtime next weekend as they host eighth-placed Valadares Gaia. Valadares heads to this clash having been beaten 4-2 by Estoril Praia.

The league is set to run till 23 May 2020 where they will end the campaign against title chasing Sporting CP.
