Premier League: 10 talking points from the season

As the premier league season approaches an end, there are some speculations about who the winner will be. This season is very different as we have to wait till the end of the season to find out who will win the league. A lot of people have turned to Betway Sports Betting to place their stake on the closest contenders.

In this post, Betway assesses ten things that happened this season.

    1. De Gea returned to his best.

David De Gea has not been able to save any match in a while. His goal-keeping prowess reduced during the later days of Jose Mourinho.

Spain also suffered the following summer at the World Cup. Now it seems that Dave has returned to top performance just like the rest of United’s squad. It is not clear if the reason is because he is done with Mourinho or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He made 11 saves against Spur which is his best so far in a Premier League match.

    1. Gunners Unable to find a winner

Arsenal was not able to control their game and they struggled to find a winner in the latter stages. The Captain, Mesut Özil was not in high spirits as he tried to find an opening. In the centre, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira made no progressive decision.

    1. Crystal Palace’s Away Form is the fifth best in the league

When divided into home and away results, the Premier League Table presents an interesting reading. Crystal Palace has a remarkable away form as only Manchester City picked up more away points than them. Crystal Palace is one of the popular teams and Betway users love to stake on them.

    1. Higuaín was too often wasteful in possession

Gonzalo Higuaín scored a beautiful goal against Watford to increase his tally as a Chelsea player to five in 16 appearances. However, there’s little clue to suggest that the club will pursue his permanent signing from Juventus. During the play against Watford, he was quite wasteful in possessions and slowed the play down. There’s no prospect of him being signed outrightly.

    1. Newcastle tried to hold out against Liverpool

Although Liverpool had defeated Newcastle, they were still happy that they more than held their end against Liverpool on the game. Rafael Benítez’s tactical abilities came to play. He has brought out the best in players like Christian Atsu and Salomón Rondón who both shone and scored. Liverpool matches are usually a delight to Betway players.

    1. Things are improving for West Ham

West Ham supporters are trying to adjust to the London Stadium but there’s an improvement for the players in Stratford. They were able to win over Southampton which took them to the highest total points ever since they moved to their new surroundings. They have been able to hold against the biggest teams in the country since the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini.

    1. Brighton rewarded for their assertiveness

Brighton played against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium with tenacity and were rewarded for both their assertiveness in attack after half-time. They were at their best when they pressed higher at a creaky defence but earlier in the game, they lacked the conviction and numbers to make their threats count.

    1. Will Baines follow Jagielka out of Goodison?

Leighton Baines, Everton’s out-of-contract captain may be ending his 12-year stay at Goodison Park. The crowd appreciated him and it is speculated that he’d get a fitting farewell at Goodison Park.

    1. Pugh given fitting send-off

Marc Pugh was given a send off from Bournemouth before kickoff of their match. He arrived from Hereford in 2010 and is leaving with 52 goals and 312 appearances to his name.

    1. Wolves are good enough to mix it with the best

In 11 matches this season against top-six opposition, Wolves have won four, drawn six and have garnered 18 points. These results show that they have the potential to mix with the big boys. However, they had difficulties beating teams from the bottom of the table.
