OnePlus is a few days away from the official announcement of OnePlus Nord, its first intermediary after a failed venture with OnePlus X. The device is already confirmed to receive the Snapdragon 765G, which has 5G, and is therefore highly anticipated.
However, it may be that the intermediary does not come alone: the manufacturer appeared in Geekbench with a new product that uses the Snapdragon 690, reinforcing the tests of yet another mid-end by the Chinese. The device has, in addition to Qualcomm’s SoC, 6 GB of RAM and runs Android 10.
The Snapdragon 690 was announced last month and features premium features for middlemen, such as the possibility of using Full HD + screens at 120Hz, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1. The codename OnePlus BE2028 is still surrounded by mysteries, but with this SoC it promises to be an advanced intermediary as well.
At the end of the day it may be a variant of OnePlus Nord, but in fact it draws attention that after an unsuccessful endeavor in the business of mid-ends in the past, OnePlus returns to bet so high in this segment. The company’s desire to grow in this market segment may also be related to the current global economic downturn, in which many users have lost purchasing power and will not be able to spend thousands of dollars on a cell phone.
Remember, the company recently provided early access to an exclusive Fortnite emote. It is not the kind of treat that convinces someone to buy a smartphone, but it is still a treat.
And you, what do you think of this recent investment by OnePlus in intermediate Android phones? Should lower prices be an incentive for those who want to bring them from the international market? Tell us in the comments!
