Bad news: PUBG Lite will be discontinued this April

Absolute success since its launch, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds popularized the genre of battle royale around the world, but has always suffered from some technical problems, especially on machines that are not as stout. With that in mind, Krafton, the publisher responsible for the game, launched PUBG Lite, a lighter version of the shooter that would run on most PCs. Two years later, the company announces that it will end the game this April, more precisely on the 29th.

In an official statement, the developer does not cite a specific reason for terminating the game’s services, but claims that it expects the battle royale helped people stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic:

“We are deeply grateful for the passion and support of the amazing number of PUBG Lite fans who have been with us. During the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG Lite has been able to provide our fans with a fun way to stay Unfortunately, we made the difficult decision to end the service after much deliberation and the time has come for our journey to the end “.

Krafton didn’t even mention how many people played PUBG in its lighter version, but it is certain that its discontinuation may have to do with the coefficient of work and use by the fans. As a comparison, the mobile version of PUBG it has already surpassed 1 billion downloads globally, being another resounding success of the franchise, raising, daily, US $ 7 million.

PUBG Lite its activities will end on April 29th. The game downloads are already suspended, but those who already have the game installed can continue playing normally until the date.
