Bugatti promises new supersports car, and it won’t be electric

Bugatti even has plans to enter the electric car market – so much so that it teamed up with Rimac, a startup specializing in the field. But that doesn’t mean the Frenchwoman intends to put aside her true vocation: combustion supersports.

Contrary to what brands like Lamborghini, Audi and Rolls-Royce have already done, which have set a deadline to put an end to the production of combustion vehicles and focus only on electric vehicles, Bugatti wants to keep the traditional roar of engines “talking loud” For a long time.

Mate Rimac, CEO of the brand, revealed to fans who still turn up their noses at electrification a great novelty: a supercar, with power to spare, 100% combustion, is in development.

“There is a future for combustion engines at Bugatti. It is absolutely clear that Bugatti quality and what the brand stands for must remain. In fact, it needs to be expanded. The origin must remain, and it is the total commitment of Bugatti Rimac. This is non-negotiable”, he warned.

Chiron success inspired Bugatti

Rimac did not elaborate on the supercar that, according to him, “will leave drivers surprised”, but added that the idea of keeping combustion engines alive at the automaker had a little push from the Chiron.

The brand’s sports classic achieved impressive numbers in 2021, setting a record in Bugatti’s 112-year history. The model sold all 40 units of the new bolide produced and contributed to the more than 150 orders delivered by the brand, 60% of them to new customers.

The arrival of a new combustion supercar, according to the executive, has everything to further expand this brand in the coming years. Regardless of whether the market is increasingly adept at electrification. “The Bugatti craftsmanship will definitely continue, and we even plan to improve on it,” he concluded.
