At the end of last Wednesday, it brought an interesting and quick surprise for residents of Mato Grosso (MT) and Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), due to the passage of a meteor that lit the skies of cities in both states.
Recorded by businessman Anderson Dal Lago on the outskirts of the Santa Maria (MS) aerodrome, the quick image allows you to check your passage in the skies, showing an intense glow. Still according to some residents, it was also possible to hear “a noise” at the time of the passage.
Also according to Giovanni Rescigno, a member of Exoss MS, the passage lasted 3.5 seconds, after which the body disintegrated in the atmosphere, possibly not touching the ground.
Additionally, Rescigno revealed that the measured brightness was -11 (on the same scale, the moon can reach -12.9 at its maximum) and it was not possible to specify the speed and size of the falling body.
With regard to the phenomenon itself, data from the National Institute for Space Research (Inpe) show that it occurs when a particle or grain of dust enters the atmosphere, reaching an average speed that varies between 100km / h and 200km / h.
Regarding the brightness, it is caused by friction with gases, causing the particles to reach high temperatures, generating combustion and providing the spectacle in question.
