According to information from the leaker Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S22 family is expected to employ a new variant of Gorilla Glass Victus glass, identified by the informant as Gorilla Glass Victus Plus. Although it does not bring details about the material, the leaker also suggests that the adoption of the novelty could mark a welcome change in the quality of construction of the devices.
Galaxy S22 line can adopt Gorilla Glass Victus Plus
On twitter, Ice Universe released a post citing the three new models of the Galaxy S22 line — Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra — along with the word all (all) and the name of the supposed glass used by Samsung. Gorilla Glass Victus is currently the strongest glass manufactured by Corning, with the promise of resisting impacts at heights of up to 2 meters, but it should gain a turbocharged version with the arrival of the new generation.
It’s not known exactly what the improvements would be, but using the Plus points to the traditional increase in scratch resistance, and possibly steeper drops from a height, or at least better assurance of component integrity on 2m drops.

More interesting is the use of the word “all”, which has a very ambiguous meaning – it is not explicit if Ice Universe refers to the screen, which would already be an upgrade over the current generation, or the back of the phones, marking a change much requested by users. Even though it’s the brand’s top of the line, the standard Galaxy S21 ditches glass in favor of what Samsung calls “Glasstic”, a plastic with a tougher finish.
Despite avoiding breakages, Glasstic presents low scratch resistance, suffering from damages with some ease, and one of the biggest complaints is the feeling during use, which gives the impression of being a less premium device than the S21 Plus brothers and S21 Ultra, both equipped with Gorilla Glass also on the back.
Cell phones debut in February
The new top-of-the-line smartphones from Samsung promise to bring refinements to the praised design of their predecessors, with emphasis on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which would escape the visual identity of the smaller brothers by taking over the position occupied by the extinct Galaxy Note family, adopting a body with straight lines and Built-in S Pen.
The processing should bring the expected upgrades, although it is shrouded in confusing rumors, which suggest that devices will adopt Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 globally, due to problems with the Exynos 2200, the brand’s own chip that would debut a GPU developed with AMD. Also according to rumors, the Galaxy S22 line is expected to arrive on February 8, a little later than the previous generation, due to the recent launch of the Galaxy S21 FE.
