Foldables from Oppo and Huawei arrive in December and may compete with Galaxy Z Flip

Oppo and Huawei are expected to introduce new folding cell phones very soon. The information is from analyst Ross Young with decades of industry experience and CEO of DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants). According to the rumor, “new models [de dobráveis] of Oppo and Huawei are coming by the end of the year.”

In comments to his publication, Young also reveals that Huawei’s cell phone will have a “shell” shape (clamshell in English), the same design adopted by Samsung with its Galaxy Z Flip line and by Motorola with the Razr.

Oppo’s cell phone can adopt either of the two most popular designs of the moment, being likely a model similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 that opens up to become a compact tablet.

Huawei Mate V with flip format and reduced price

Huawei has been warming up for months for the launch of a new collapsible. Shortly after the announcement of the Mate X2 we have seen increasing rumors and leaks about the supposed Huawei Mate V with similar form factor to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Motorola Razr 5G.

The company already has final design patents with a large external screen and a set of two rear cameras, reinforcing the model’s development.

Foldable by Oppo with Z Fold 3 and Mate X2 design

Since it unveiled its folding cell phone prototype with a flexible external display, anticipation for the Oppo model has grown, and rumors have gained traction in recent months.

The device in question has already had battery details revealed, the manufacturer has already registered a design patent and the device was expected to be announced in November, but with a few days to go until the end of the month, it looks like it could have been left until December.

We also got hints of its specs: Oppo’s folding would have flexible internal screen between 7.8 and 8 inches with Quad HD (2K) resolution and 120 Hz rate, would be equipped with Snapdragon 888 chip, and would adopt 50MP rear main sensor. With the delay, it is possible that he will come with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Should both Oppo and Huawei foldings be introduced this year, more details should come out in the next few days.
