The tool for making phone calls over the Google Hangouts will be disabled next month. Due to the termination of the function for VoIP calls, the Google is giving a refund to users who still have some balance on their account. That’s what a company statement said on Thursday (25).
The new information about the closure of the tool was revealed on a Google support page. After announcing the end of the service in November for the beginning of this year, the company explains that the process to end VoIP calls through the classic Hangouts will be completed in March 2021.
“We’re refunding the calling credit balance for Hangouts users. You can see an email from Google Hangouts, ”they said. “If there are problems with the refund to the original form of payment, another email with a reference to Google Voice will be sent from Google Pay, asking you to correct the previous refund attempt.”
How do I request a refund on Google Hangouts?
The statement also presented users with a step-by-step way to manually request a refund. To do this, you need to make a request on that page: voice.google.com. Then, the user will receive a confirmation email.
“The credit shown in the billing view will go to 0 and phone calls paid through Hangouts will no longer be possible,” they explained. “Google will attempt to refund the remaining balance through Google Pay.”
If all goes well, no further email will be sent. But, if there is a failure in the process due to an expired credit card or for other reasons, the user will receive a notice sent by the address “payments-noreply[at]google.com“.
“It may take up to 10 days for the refund to appear in the recipient’s payment instrument account,” they explain.
