Despite promising several times, LG has backtracked and should no longer update your televisions 2018 with support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Homekit. The information was revealed this week very quietly on the support page of the South Korean giant.
For those who do not remember, after much public insistence, the company promised an update for a few models of 2018. The support page made it very clear that only the LED variants “SK” and “UK”, in addition to the OLEDs of “B8 “the” Z8 “would be graced with the novelty.
The update was scheduled to be released in October. However, LG decided to go back and now confirms through its official channels that there will be no update for any model prior to 2019.
With the publication of the bad news on Twitter, many LG TV owners rushed to the company’s support pages and found that the South Korean woman deleted the documents that guaranteed the update.
Therefore, some disgruntled users are creating an online petition where they demand a repositioning of LG. For now, the company did not comment on the matter officially.
The AirPlay 2 protocol allows you to play content directly from your iPhone, iPad or Mac, including Dolby Vision titles. HomeKit is used to control all “smart” devices with the Casa app or through Siri.
