One developer appears to have found an unheard-of name for a future Qualcomm chip on a test link from the US giant. The Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1 could be another variant of the company’s top-of-the-line processor, expected to debut as early as next week, as an icon on the site reveals. The novelty is surprising, and it is still unclear what type of device the chip should be intended for.
Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1 appears on Qualcomm website
Discovery was made by developer @Za_Raczke and answered by the leaker Ishan Agarwal, which has a good history of leaks. In his publication, the developer explains that he found in the test version of Qualcomm’s website the logo with the name “Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1”, on a product called “testing new icon”, something like “testing new icon” in free translation.

Could this be the final name of Snapdragon 888 successor/their new flagship chip?
Or a variant of the Snapdragon 8 gen1 meant for products other than smartphones? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/ihNEpRXVDN

All data present in the link are temporary, and seem to have been placed for the manufacturer’s team to plan the page of releases that must be announced during the Snapdragon Tech Summit, scheduled for next Tuesday, November 30th.
The novelty draws attention not only for being different from the name “Snapdragon 8 Gen 1” leaked so far, but also for coming as a surprise even to renowned leakers, who still cannot tell which products the supposed Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1 will be destined.
Chip can be game-focused variant
Although there are no details about the chip, theories have already started to form between users and leakers, based on the naming schemes that Qualcomm currently uses in its processors. The possibility that has more strength so far is that this would be a chip optimized for games, considering the presence of the letter G, previously used by the company to reinforce the power of the GPU in games.

Another important clue, pointed out by the leaker Tron, is that the Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1 is not the same chipset known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, thus reinforcing that the solution must target a different proposal. In any case, Qualcomm itself should clarify the situation during next week’s next-gen Snapdragon launch event.
