Twitter Fleets may not be the most popular publication format on the social network, but it received some more news in an update. Gifs and “Twemojis” arrive at photos and videos in the format of stories, which can only be seen through the mobile application – but it is still a long way from the creative freedom of more established competitors.
Like Instagram and Facebook, Twitter took advantage of the wave of stories – temporary posts made up of photos, videos or short quotes – to create its solution, Fleets, in March 2020. Even a year after its launch, the tool is not yet viewable by Twitter for browser and, compared to Instagram Stories, is far behind in features.
One of the measures to overcome this gap was the most recent addition of stickers (animated or static) and “Twemojis” to the creations. Neither option is new to this format. The process for inserting them, in fact, is very similar: after creating the stories, the app will present a screen for the final editions – colored background, text insertion and the new stickers. By clicking on it, the entire screen is covered by all Twemojis options, selecting any one will take you to the publication and you will be able to adjust the size, position or orientation in the way you prefer.
If compared, the options are pretty basic when placed side by side with Instagram stickers – which even carry polls, pull songs and other special functions. GIFs were also included in the package. If stickers aren’t what you’re looking for, just fill in the top search bar to trigger results from the Tenor and Giphy collections.
Your Fleets just got an upgrade.

The “Twemojis”, in turn, are modernized versions of the well-known emojis adapted by Twitter. The list of options is more limited than the hundreds of expressions and stickers available in Unicode 13.1, but they bring some cool classics to play with the publications.
Anyway, the tool becomes even more familiar with the other solutions out there. It can be a good time to try out Fleets and assess whether it is more interesting than before and whether the temporary format suits your style of using the social network.
As with other updates, the news package will be forwarded gradually and may not be on your device. In this case, it is worth paying attention to Twitter updates on the Play Store and the App Store. If a download is available, download it and check again if the button to insert stickers is available in the Fleets.
