WhatsApp: dark mode is finally available!

In test for many weeks, the dark mode of WhatsApp is coming for everyone on iOS and Android. You will finally be able to chat in the dark without burning your retina.

“Hello Darkness, my old friend” . It is on these emblematic words of Simon & Garfunkel that WhatsApp humorously announces the arrival of a dark theme in its messaging application. On iOS as on Android, the  dark mode is  now activated automatically according to the theme you have configured in your operating system. It is also possible to trigger it manually … provided you have an Android smartphone. Indeed, with an iPhone, iOS 13 is mandatory.

A long awaited function

With more than 500 million active users every day, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. For many people, not having a dark theme in this application was a real problem. Opening WhatsApp dazzled each time and only allowed discreet use. The developers of the application took a long time (the function has been in beta for many months) but the dark theme has finally arrived.
