”Ghost” cruise ships that lure tourists

The tourism industry can attest to the massive drop in the number of tourists. One sector that was affected is the cruise industry in the UK.On regular days before the pandemic tourists would fill these ships on a day to day basis all travelling to different destinations across the world.

But with the pandemic, the narrative has completely changed. What was then a full harbour full of people from all walks of life is now full of eerie looking ships which are now becoming a mini tourist attraction site.

Derham, who has worked in the cruise industry for 27 years, noticed that the worlds most famous ships are being laid up near his ferry routes once the pandemic began. He then had an idea of using his ferries to offer tours for passengers to get close as possible to view these ships.

He advertised his new venture on Facebook, and what began as a mere idea has grown to be a massive business for him. He entertains his customers by sharing with them the knowledge that he has acquired in the cruise industry.

Fanatics across the world of cruise ships have shared their sentiments on how exciting this idea is. Derham told CNN Travel that he is completely overwhelmed with the attention his idea has received.

Derham tells CNN Travel that he knows how many engines each ship uses and every other technical detail about the ships. The fascinating thing about this tour is that passengers can get a good view of the Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas one of the largest passenger vessels at,1,187 feet long accommodating up to 6687 people.

With the immense level of interest and the continuing halt in the cruise industry, Derham plans to continue to run his tours as long as the ships remain in the harbour.
