Former Ugenya member of parliament David Ochieng accused the ODM Ugenya branch of running a malicious campaign against him by linking him to the high profile murder of Chris Msando.
Ochieng lost to Christopher Karan in the August 8 poll, alleging that ODM swore consequences on any voter who voted for him.

According to a report by the Standard on Thursday, December 7, it all begun when Karan allegedly went to Lifunga village and told Msando’s mourners not to allow Ochieng to attend the funeral because he was involved in the murder of Msando.
Msando was a key Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT manager. He was brutally murdered just days before the election.
Ochieng further added that the ODM brigade in Ugenya declared war on his supporters and the election was conducted in utter violation and disregard of the Constitution and laws governing the exercise.
“Karan, knowing that there was a Jubilee candidate in the race, linked my campaigns to Jubilee, telling voters that a vote for me was a vote for Jubilee and its presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta,” added Ochieng.
Apparently, the ODM camp allegedly told voters that they had technological structures linked to KIEMS which would allow them to know who voted for Ochieng.
Witnesses who corroborated Ochieng’s testimony said they were told to say ‘Raila gi lange‘ (Raila and his people) when being assisted to vote.
Ochieng is a former ODM members who quit the party in 2016, saying he won’t defend his seat on an ODM ticket.
