– A Lawyer was thrown into cell after his phone rang in court disrupting a petition hearing
– Justice Fred Ochieng sent the lawyer to cell demanding an apology letter
– The lawyer was not part of the hearing but was merely passing by to catch wind of the petition
Judge Ochieng ordered the immediate incarceration of an advocate after his phone rang disrupting court proceedings.
The judge was hearing the Starehe parliamentary petition seeking to nullify current MP Charles Njagua’s win in the August 8 general elections.
The court orderly bungled the surprised lawyer out of court after confiscating his phone following instructions by Ochieng.
According to a report by Edaily, Ochieng is known among his learned colleagues as a no nonsense Judge, notorious for his strict approach to court rules.
The lawyer pleaded with the judge in vain before being thrown into a basement cell.
He was held in cell for two hours before the judge ordered his release under condition that he wrote an apology letter.
It is understood that the learned fellow was not even party to the petition filed by Steve Mbogo.
He just so happened to be passing by trying to catch a hint of the ongoing petition.
