It would appear that the late Nyeri governor, Wahome Gakuru, had a premonition of how his life would come to an end.
Recently sworn in Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga said the late Gakuru had always been wary of the Mercedes Benz vehicle in which he lost his life in a freak road accident on Tuesday, November 7.
According to a report by Citizen TV on Tuesday, November 14, Governor Kahiga told a congregation gathered at the Dedan University of Technology in Nyeri for Gakuru’s requiem mass that Gakuru never liked using his official vehicle.
“He told me that it is his official vehicle that will eventually kill him. I was very shocked to learn that the late governor traveled outside Nyeri using his official vehicle. I keep asking anyone who bothers to listen, how die Wahome Gakuru find himself in the Mercedes Benz outside Nyeri,
“The car was faults and he told me three or four times that it was that particular car that would kill him. Many times he used his own personal vehicles because he felt safer and they were better,”said Kahiga.
The accident that claimed the late Gakuru’s life occured in Kabati area, Murang’a morning very early in the morning.
Gakuru was on his way to Nairobi for media rounds when a recklessly driven motorcycle sparked events that saw Gakuru’s official car ram into a road guard rail and the length of the vehicle pierced by the rail as well.
The late Gakuru was the third Nyeri governor since 2013 after the county’s first governor died in office and was succeeded by his deputy. Gakuru managed to beat the second governor in the 2017 General Election.
The late Gakuru is survived by a wife and four children.
