Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday threatened to punch a reporter in the mouth after the reporter asked about his wife’s links to a graft scheme.
“I so want to pound your mouth with punches,” Bolsonaro said when the reporter from O Globo asked him about his wife Michelle Bolsonaro’s link to retired police officer Fabricio Queiroz, who is under investigation for a scheme that allegedly scrapped pay from government officials.
Bolsonaro was on his regular Sunday visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Brasilia. The far-right President afterwards ignored protests from other journalists regarding his remarks and left without making any comments.
The Crusoe magazine published a report linking First Lady Michele Bolsonaro to retired police officer Fabricio Queiroz.
Queiroz, according to the report, was a friend of the President and former advisor to his son Flavio Bolsonaro who is now a Senator.
The magazine further reported that Queiroz deposited funds in Michelle Bolsonaro’s bank account between 2011 and 2016.
The First Lady has not yet commented on the case.
