US breaks record by registering 42,000 new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours

Washington, 30 Jun 2020 (AFP) – The United States has recorded at least 42,000 infections by coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the count on Monday (29) of Johns Hopkins University, when the country faces a rapid increase in the disease.

The new positive diagnoses, concentrated in the southern and western states, bring the total number of infected people to about 2.6 million, according to the Baltimore institution.

The number of daily deaths in the United States, the world’s largest economic power, continues to decline, with 355 deaths in 24 hours.

Several states have been forced to reestablish the closure of businesses, such as restaurants and bars, although the White House blames the increase in cases by record levels largely due to the increased testing and not the spread of the disease.
